Playlist for July 31, 2010

A bit of business first:

Today I popped into CJSF Radio up at Simon Fraser University to be the guest on Euanator Radio from noon to 1 pm.

We chatted about my Maqlu project, about remixing, etc. and I played a couple of tracks that I haven't played elsewhere yet:

  • "Move Through Me [Pulse Mix]," a remix I did of one of the tracks on Blood

  • "Paws Off," a rough mix of the noise piece off the upcoming EP, Black, which I only finished a few days ago

  • my remix of the Rabid Whole's "Faith In Yesterday [Maqlu Mix]," which will be on their upcoming remix CD, slated for release in the fall

  • "Lord of the Flies," a stark almost a cappella piece that will close out Black

In case you missed it, here are the podcast links for the show:

Maqlu on Euanator Radio July 30, 2010: Part 2

Guest appearances, mine and otherwise

First off, as I've mentioned a couple of times on the show, tomorrow, Friday July 30th, between noon and 1pm Pacific I'll be the guest on Euanator Radio on CJSF - 90.1 FM in the Vancouver area, cjsf.ca elsewhere to listen live.

I'll be chatting about my main project, Maqlu, and the EPs for that as well as playing some music, including some of the remixes I've done for other artists. I'll also have a few new tracks, at least two of which have not been heard anywhere else yet.

Check it out - and if you can't listen live, the show will be podcast so I'll be sure to post links as soon as I have them.

Secondly, it's short notice so I wasn't able to mention it on last week's show, but later today I'll be taping an interview with Karl Mohr. We'll chat about his music and a new film he's been working on. That'll air at the start of tomorrow night's Vampire's Ball.

Playlist for July 3, 2010

So, this being the Canada Day long weekend, I figured I'd do an all-Canadian show. Then in sorting through my music collection, I realized I could actually focus in even further and do an almost-all Vancouver-based special.

First up, though, last week I chatted with Sever of Victoria's Tribal Machine about his new disc, The Orwellian Night, so I wanted to kick off the show with that interview and a couple of tracks. You can grab the album from Sever here:

Tribal Machine online

Speaking of new releases, earlier today I saw a note on Facebook from the folks at Litany.net about a brand new ohGr single and I quickly grabbed it. Tonight I see ohGr's hit the mailing list and about 3 of my email accounts had the message to go grab "tragek" from the website. I recommend you go do the same:

ohGr store

The single is available as either an MP3 or a .wav. While you're there you can grab a spoken word piece, and if you haven't already gotten them, the single "Collidoskope" and the collection of remixes of "Collidoskope," all of which are free.

And in other news, I mentioned it at the end of this week's show and will mention it again closer to the time: on Friday July 30th from 12:00-1:00pm PST I will be a guest on Euanator Radio on our sister station CJSF [90.1FM in the Vancouver region or cjsf.ca to listen live], where I will be chatting with Euan about my own musical project, Maqlu. I'll be playing tracks from my debut EP, Blood, along with a few remixes I've done. I might even have one or two of the new tracks I'm working on for my next EP done by then.

Anyway, this is what I played tonight:
